Some people believe that newspaper is the best way to learn about news. While others believe that more effective way is through other media. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

    Although the necessity of being informed is hardly arguable, the specific way of doing so is: while many still praise the old-fashioned newspaper, others consider it obsolete. For me, I believe that learning the news is too complicated to be properly done only by newspaper or other media.

Acquiring information should be time-efficient and vivid, which are also the leading reasons of the rise of media other than newspaper. In fact, the new media, being recognized as “grassroots” as basically everyone with access to Internet can upload and spread their own vision of news, is much faster than newspaper, since the time, not only for printing and distributing, but also for reporters to get to the scene, can be saved. In addition, the importance of diffusing news visually and/or aurally should also be reckoned, since comparing with articles, sounds and images can easily make a deeper impression.

However, speed and realism cannot be the only features that matter in getting the news. For many, accuracy is of the greatest significance, hence their support to newspaper simply due to the rigorous censorship system of traditional printing industry that can make the information gaining from printed media more reliable than from other ways. This belief, however, is only partially true, as the diminishing newspaper industry is now are willing to adjust their content according to viewers’ appetite just to stay in business, and therefore it is getting difficult to find a truly trustworthy newspaper.

Overall, I believe newspaper today is becoming a verification tool of news towards other media, as despite the dip in form in the aspect of being fast and being vivid, newspaper still remains competitive in reliability.
